The People Behind Hand Safety First®
Hand Safety First® is supported by PSC Hand Safety India Private Limited, part of the PSC Group — a globally connected organisation serving industrial customers across India, the Middle East and the United States. The initiative brings together expertise from industrial operations, safety solutions, oil and gas, metals, manufacturing, sourcing, logistics, customer engagement, technical documentation and field application support.
Help organisations identify, reduce and eliminate unnecessary hand exposure before injuries occur.
Satish Agrawal has spent more than two decades working with industrial customers across sectors including steel, aluminium, ports, offshore oil and gas, lifting operations, heavy engineering and maintenance environments. His work has focused on identifying practical methods to reduce hand exposure during lifting, rigging, positioning, maintenance and material handling activities.
He is the author of the HSF Exposure Control Framework™, The Last 300 mm Rule™, the HSF Open Industrial Hand Exposure Control SOP Library™ and other Hand Safety First® publications and reference encyclopedias. His approach is grounded in the same observation that motivates the entire HSF initiative: many serious hand injuries occur not because safety systems are absent, but because the work method still requires the hand to enter the hazard zone.
Since 2017, Shivani Patnaik has played a key role in the growth and deployment of industrial hand-safety initiatives across global markets. Her responsibilities span customer engagement, webinar coordination, industrial consultations, relationship management, global business development and support for hand-exposure reduction programmes.
Working closely with industrial teams across metals, oil and gas, offshore, manufacturing and heavy engineering sectors, she helps connect field challenges with practical exposure-control solutions, educational resources and implementation support. She holds director and partner-level positions across PSC's India, Gulf and Houston entities, and has been instrumental in deploying PSC's hands-free safety range across more than 40 countries.
Hand Safety First® benefits from the wider capabilities of the PSC Group. The broader PSC Group includes a multidisciplinary team of more than 40 professionals supporting customers across a wide range of industrial sectors. This combination of practical industrial experience and technical knowledge helps ensure that Hand Safety First® remains focused on real-world exposure challenges faced by workers, supervisors, engineers and safety professionals.
The goal is not simply to protect the hand after it enters the hazard.
The goal is to reduce the need for the hand to enter the hazard in the first place.
Through publications, SOPs, webinars, exposure-mapping initiatives, technical resources and practical field guidance, Hand Safety First® works to advance the conversation from hand injury prevention to hand exposure control.
